Ronald Ross, Former Social Studies Teacher, A. Phillip Randolph Campus High School

I was always a good student, however, social studies was my worst subject. Mr. Ross, my tenth grade social studies teacher, gave me encouragement along with challenging me to work and study hard. As a result of his unique style of teaching I began to more than excel in the subject area. Thanks to his motivation, support and my hard work I was able to obtain my highest grade ever in the subject, a 92. By the time I was a senior in high school, and no longer one of his students, Mr. Ross invited me to represent the school on an overnight trip upstate to debate students regarding the production of military weapons, which was taped by PBS. I was surprised and honored by the invitation to represent my school. Thanks to him, in my role as a teacher, my desire is to deliver exceptional, hands on unique lessons in hopes of motivating students the way he did. Hopefully, as a teacher, I will affect at least one life. Mr. Ross thanks for believing in me.
