P.S. 191 is divided into two houses, 
the Lower House, PreK-2nd grade, 
and the Upper House, grades 3-5, 
inclusive of Special Education. The 
school''s curriculum is literacy based. 
All instruction supports P.S. 191''s 
literacy program. This allows our 
students to investigate all subject 
areas while focusing on literacy. 
While working in cooperative 
learning groups children use the 
available literature, technology, and 
research to complete project based 
activities. To support our Lower 
House students and staff, we are 
fortunate to be participants in the 
N.Y.C. Department of Aging''s Foster 
Grandparents Program. After 
completing the school day, our 
children have the opportunity to 
attend a variety of After School 
Programs. The school community of 
P.S. 191 is excited about our 
Redesign School. The members of 
our school community have come 
together as one to ensure that our 
children have available to them the 
best education possible so that they 
can continue to strive for excellence 
and always be the best they can be.
