Schools

An impartial hearing is a formal proceeding in which disagreements between the school district and the parent are decided by an impartial hearing officer appointed by the Department of Education. The school district may file a due process complaint on any matter relating to a proposal or a refusal to initiate or change the identification, evaluation or educational placement of a child, or the provision of FAPE to a child.

Note: A hearing request on the issue of placement must be submitted in writing to the district's Integrated Service Center (ISC) or Committee on Special Education (CSE).
