Family Welcome Centers

Family Welcome Centers (FWCs) serve New York City families year-round with enrollment and admissions by appointment. FWCs can support with:

  • Enrollment: Assistance with enrolling your child in New York City public schools.
  • Transfers:  Help with transferring your child to another New York City public school.
  • Applications:  Support applying for 3-K, Pre-K, Kindergarten, Middle, and High School

Please note that the Family Welcome Centers will be closed on the following dates:

How to Get Help

Enrolling at your zoned school:

Most elementary and middle school students can enroll directly at their zoned school, without having to visit a Family Welcome Center. To find your zoned school, follow these instructions:

  1. Visit schoolsearch.schools.nyc and enter your address in the School Name or Address search bar.
  2. In the Grade dropdown, choose your child's grade level.
  3. In the Borough dropdown, select the borough where you live.
  4. Click the Search button.
  5. Look for zoned schools under "Current Zoned Schools." 

Family Welcome Center Appointments:

Make an appointment by:

  • Emailing your local Family Welcome Center (See the list of FWC locations and contact information in the Family Welcome Center Locations section below).
  • Calling your Local Family Welcome Center if sending an email is not possible.

When you email us, please include the following information: 

  • Child’s Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Student ID Number (if available)
  • Brief summary of your needs

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Appointments may take place in-person, by phone, or virtually.
