Know a great teacher with great impact on their community?

Then consider nominating them for the 2024 Big Apple Awards, New York City’s annual recognition program for outstanding educators, by Friday, January 19, 2024! City students, families, community members, and other school staff members can acknowledge City educators who have empowered and advocated for their students and enriched their school communities. Meet last year’s winners to be inspired by who to nominate this year.

To qualify, nominees must be current, full-time public school teachers in New York City district schools, charter schools, or early childhood education programs. When choosing someone to nominate, think of a person who inspires their students to dream and creates opportunities for them to thrive, exemplifies great teaching, and improves their school communities.

Big Apple Award recipients are given the opportunity to participate in the Big Apple Fellowship and represent educators citywide as members of the Chancellor’s Teacher Advisory Group during the 2024–25 school year.
