POSITION:                 

NYC Men Teach Summer Site Manager – TAF Program - Supervisor, Office of New Teacher Induction

 

LOCATION:                

New York City Department of Education, various locations citywide

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:          

NYC DOE Licensed and Appointed Supervisors

 

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

  • •              NYC DOE Certified and Appointed Supervisors
  • •              Preference will be given to supervisors working in DOE schools participating in NYC Men Teach program
  • •              Knowledge of high school graduation requirements
  • •              Knowledge of state and city academic policy
  • •              Can identify with the experience of male educators of color
  • •              Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and collaboratively on projects

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    NYC Men Teach is an engagement and recruitment effort aimed to inspire more men of color to become teachers in New York City. A collaboration between City Hall, NYC Public Schools, and the City University of New York, NYC Men Teach will bring more diverse cultures and perspectives into our classrooms by increasing the number of male educators of color in schools. As part of the NYC Men Teach Teacher Assistant Fellowship, NYC Men Teach pre-service teachers support schools during the summer. Site Managers support Teacher Assistant Fellows through daily observations as they support summer school and summer rising programs and deliver professional learning to support their development as future educators.

    Under the supervision of licensed pedagogical personnel, once selected participants agree to:

  • Facilitate and deliver NYC Men Teach TAF workshops
  • Create curricula and resources for members of the NYC Men Teach TAF Participants 
  • Co-plan daily and weekly PD to support the NYC Men Teach Program
  • Knowledgeable in CRSE (Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education) Practices 

 

WORK SCHEDULE:   

July 2024 – Fall 2024 and beyond (approximately 150 hours) Additional hours granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
