POSITION:

Division of Specialized Instruction and Student Support (DSISS), Special Education Office

Pre-Employment and Transition Services (Pre-ETS) Supervisor (Approximately 7 positions available)

Jonathan Santiago – Program Supervisor

 

LOCATION:

Assignments may be remote and/or in-person at identified sites throughout the five boroughs

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid NYCDOE license as a supervisor
  • Appointed and tenured NYCDOE supervisor
  • Satisfactory service in a supervisory position for 3 or more years

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Satisfactory or higher rating in DOE position for the past 3 years
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Demonstrated ability in coaching and observing best practices for provision of transition services.
  • Good organization and communication skills
  • Minimum three years’ experience in middle or high school supporting students with disabilities
  • Experience in career preparation, exploration, Work-Based Learning
  • Knowledge of the New York State Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Standards
  • Familiar with Academic and Personal Behaviors
  • Knowledge of process to link students with postsecondary services, including knowledge of external agencies
  • Ability to use a vocational assessment to properly match students to Work Based Learning opportunities
  • Ability to implement and supervise a self-advocacy curriculum
  • Knowledge of job placement techniques
  • Knowledge of Transition Services
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated qualities of organizational skills and the ability to work well within a team

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidance and support to teacher per session trainers who are providing Pre-ETS services directly to students
  • Observe Pre-ETS trainers and provide feedback
  • Coordinate relationship with ACCESS-VR
  • Maintain monthly meetings with borough ACCESS-VR point person
  • Evaluate Pre-ETS trainers and record according to policy and procedures
  • Ensure that information is recorded according to the state requirements, accurately, and in a timely manner
  • Ensure per session timesheet protocols are in place and followed, submit all timesheets in a timely manner
  • Support delivery of curriculum, vocational assessments, and family conferences
  • Manage delivery of Pre-ETS services and outreach

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Commencing October 6, 2024 and through June 06, 2025
  • Hours may take place during weekday evenings from 4:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturdays/Sundays
  • 15 hours weekly
  • Assignments, locations, work schedules and hours may vary and will be assigned by Transition Office Executive Director

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
