POSITION:

TEACHER

Proctor

SHSAT Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (up to approximately 75 positions, depending significantly on need and funding).

Office of Student Enrollment

Work will include approximately 2 hours of training (at training rate), plus up to 8 hours of test administration (at regular per session rate) on one or two test administration days, depending on need and funding

 

LOCATION:

In-person (not remote), school buildings and/or NYCDOE office buildings across New York City, potentially in all five boroughs. The exact locations to be determined.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

New York City Department of Education teachers who possess one of the following licenses: 7-12 license in all subject areas.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Preference will be give to applicants who demonstrate the following:

  • Three years’ experience administering the SHSAT assessment.
  • Ability to follow all the rules and regulations of the NYC Department of Education.
  • Experience and knowledge of SHSAT administration.
  • Effective communication with groups of students.
  • Understanding of the emotional and cognitive needs of students (grades 7 – 9).
  • Groups management skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor and/or the room proctor:
  • Must be responsible for the security, distribution and collection of all test materials
  • Must adhere to policies and procedures relating to the exam and the school building
  • Must properly maintain rooms used for testing
  • Must organize materials and room for test purposes
  • Must actively supervise students to and from exam site room
  • Must actively supervise students and appropriately engage students during all aspects of testing

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Expectation for selected proctors to be available for multiple on-site, in person test administrations on weekdays (Monday – Friday) throughout August and early September 2024, and one mandatory training session in late July or early August. Test administration may take place any or all weekdays starting August 1, 2024, through Monday, September 9, 2024. Proctors are expected to be available to attend the mandatory training session, whose exact date has yet to be determined. Proctors are expected to be available to administer the test on all days each proctor is assigned.

 

Up to but not limited to between 3 and 8 hours per position per day, depending on number of applicants; hours are not guaranteed. Additional hours and days granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

Proctors who are absent from the mandatory training session or from any assigned testing day will be released from the assignment. Proctors who arrive late to the mandatory training session or from any assigned testing day may be released from the assignment.

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
