POSITION:

Paraprofessional

SHSAT Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (approximately 1 to 20 positions, depending significantly on need and funding).

Office of Student Enrollment

Work will include approximately 2 hours of training (at training rate), plus up to 8 hours of test administration (at regular per session rate) on one or two test administration days, depending on need and funding.

 

LOCATION:

In-person (not remote), school buildings and/or NYCDOE office buildings across New York City, potentially in all five boroughs. The exact locations to be determined.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

New York City Department of Education licensed Teaching Assistant

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate the following:
  • Ability to follow all the rules and regulations of the NYC Dept. of Education
  • Experience and knowledge of SHSAT administration
  • Effective communication with students
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor and/or the room proctor:
  • Must support students, as directed by room proctor, during the administration of the exam
  • Must assist room proctor in the organization of materials and room for test purposes
  • Must adhere to policies and procedures relating to the exam and the school building

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Expectation for selected proctors to be available for multiple on-site, in person test administrations on weekdays (Monday – Friday) throughout August and early September 2024, and one mandatory training session in late July or early August. Test administration may take place any or all weekdays starting August 1, 2024, through Monday, September 9, 2023. Paraprofessionals are expected to be available to attend the mandatory training session, whose exact date has yet to be determined. Paraprofessionals are expected to be available to support with the administration of the test on all days each paraprofessional is assigned. Up to but not limited to between 3 and 8 hours per position per day, depending on number of applicants; hours are not guaranteed. Additional hours and days granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
