POSITION:

Supervisor

SHSAT Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (up to approximately 10 positions, depending significantly on need and funding).

Office of Student Enrollment

Work will include approximately 2 hours of training (at training rate), plus up to 10 hours of test administration (at regular per session rate) on one or two test administration days, depending on need and funding, and a significant number of hours for organization and preparation before the test and training days.

 

LOCATION:

In-person (not remote), school buildings and/or NYCDOE office buildings across New York City, potentially in all five boroughs. The exact locations to be determined.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

New York City Department of Education license and appointed Supervisor with a minimum of two (2) year of satisfactory experience supervising standardized assessments.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Preference will be give to applicants who demonstrate the following:

  • Three years’ experience supervising and/or administering the SHSAT assessment.
  • Ability to follow all the rules and regulations of the NYC Department of Education.
  • Experience and knowledge of SHSAT administration.
  • Effective communication with groups of students and parents.
  • Understanding of the emotional and cognitive needs of students (grades 7 – 9).
  • Group management skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The site supervisor:

  • Must be responsible for the security, distribution and collection of all test materials.
  • Must adhere to policies and procedures relating to administration of the exam and the school building.
  • Must properly maintain rooms used for testing.
  • Must organize materials and rooms for test purposes.
  • Must actively supervise students to and from exam site.
  • Must actively supervise proctors and appropriately engage proctors during all aspects of testing

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Expectation for supervising multiple on-site, in person test administrations on weekdays (Monday – Friday) throughout August and early September 2024, and one mandatory training session in late July or early August, and organization of all materials and site logistics associated with all these activities. Test administration may take place any or all weekdays starting August 1, 2024, through Monday, September 9, 2024. Supervisors are expected to lead the mandatory training session, whose exact date has yet to be determined. Supervisors are expected to be available to supervise the administration of the test on all days assigned.

 

Up to but not limited to between 4 and 10 hours per position per day, depending on number of applicants; hours are not guaranteed. Additional hours and days granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
