POSITION:

  • Title Sought: Social Workers and/or Guidance Counselors
  • Per Session Job: STH & NYCHA Attendance Strategic Planning for new school year
  • 2 positions available
  • Community School District 7 in the Division of School Leadership
  • Work supervisor: Executive Director of School Support and Operations

 

LOCATION:

Community School District 7 located at 501 Courtlandt Ave, Bronx, NY 10451

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • NYC Department of Education licensed and appointed guidance counselor or social worker
  • Strong attendance record and experience mentoring students to overcome the barriers of chronic absenteeism

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Priority given to all District 7 social workers and/or guidance counselor
  • Interest in working to develop attendance improvement plans
  • Interest in develop social emotional learning support plans to foster positive school culture
  • Interest in working in shelters to develop strategies to improve attendance
  • Interest in collaborating with NYCHA Presidents to develop strategies to improve attendance
  • Track record with improving attendance at current school demonstrating strong student attendance

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with EDSSO and educational administrators in the district office to plan for new school year on best social emotional learning practices to improve attendance for students living in District 7
  2. Planning meetings with Directors of shelters and Presidents of NYCHA to improve attendance practices
  3. Planning meetings looking at attendance data for all D7 schools and planning strategies for improving attendance based on subgroups, with a focus on STH
  4. Develop an action plan and informational flyers for families regarding attendance

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

To be determined but may require a 35-hour work week (7 hour days) of 08:30am-3:30pm during Summer 2024

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
