TEACHER-GRAMMAR SCHOOL – MIDDLE SCHOOL – HIGH SCHOOL 

After School Tutoring Academy

LOCATION:

Group Homes throughout New York City (Work sites subject to change based on student enrollment.) 

(Work Sites – Subject to DOE/City Agency Protocol)

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be given to licensed and appointed NYC Department of Education teachers currently serving full time in District 79, who demonstrate knowledge and application of effective practices and New York State Next Generation Learning Standards. Satisfactory performance “At least three (3) years from 9-2021 through 9-2024 of satisfactory (Highly Effective/Effective) experience within the NYCDOE.”   

 

Possession of a Regular New York City License and/or New York State Certification as a TEACHER (General Education, Special Education, English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education (all languages), Academic or Career/Technical Education content areas); New York City License preferred.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Satisfactory performance “At least three (3) years from 9-2021 through 9-2024 years of satisfactory (Highly Effective/Effective) experience within the NYCDOE.” 
  2. Teachers covered by Advance, no substantiated allegations of misconduct stemming from an OSI or SCI investigation or any misconduct that has led to the filing of disciplinary charges within the past three years.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and successful practice of differentiated teaching strategies and small group instruction (where appropriate to the program) with an understanding of methods used in facilitating congruence between day school instruction and after-school instruction.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of and practice in interdisciplinary instruction (where appropriate to the program.)
  5. Other criteria that the individual district may require in accordance with the UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement and assume responsibility for all instructional activities as assigned by school-based supervisors.

To prescribe and implement specific individual instructional approaches.

Provide small group instruction, or individual instruction that meets individual student needs.

Prepare statistical, attendance and assessment reports as required within the program’s timelines.

Communicate with group home managers or directors to support learning and discuss student progress.

Other duties and responsibilities that the individual district may require in accordance with the UFT Collective Bargaining agreement.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

After School: 2 ½ hours a day, two days per week, Monday-Thursday (not to exceed 150 hours per position.)         

Hours Vary 3:30pm-6:00pm, 3:45pm-6:15pm or 4:00pm-6:30pm. All applicants must be available for the full calendar of the program.

 Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
